Architecture Luxury Trends of 2013

FINE-magazine-home-automation-architecture-luxury-trend-2013Trends in architecture may not so rapidly change or be so easily noticeable as they are within other trends like fashion, however, 2013 predictions have been made that nevertheless challenge the latest in architectural design.

Specifically, luxury residential design trends for 2013 include home automation, sustainability, and boutique-style closets. As smart home technology continues to grow smarter, homeowners are increasingly able to run all of their home’s technology – lighting structures, air conditioners, heaters, sound systems, etc. – from one control. Moreover, smart home technology has become the absolute in home luxury. In addition to this, green building practices are on the rise. Not only are people becoming more environmentally conscious, but they are lowering their long-term energy expenses as well. Thirdly, homeowners are asking for trendy walk-in-closests or boutique-style closets, which have become increasingly popular in luxury homes.

In addition to these developments, other architectural trends can be expected within contemporary fine homes which are a continued attraction to light and minimalism, a pursuit for quality, as well as the expression of form. Potentially one of the more exciting trends is the urge to design luxury outdoor living spaces, for instance, outdoor kitchens, which can include pizza ovens, beer taps and more. Relaxing, entertaining and working from home is progressively moving outdoors.

These types of contemporary, fine home living can be seen in the work done by Fleetwood Joiner and Avalon Architecture. Their luxury design creates homes that use unconventional shapes, as well as an ultra-mod style.

FINE Magazine's Weekly Top 5 - New York Fashion Week

Although it is still too soon to say which fashion styles the masses will be drawn to most, look here for the Top 5 must see looks that surfaced on the runway from New York Fashion Week--produced from the collections of the more than 80 designers.

FINE-magazine-new-york-fashion-week-fur-herve-leger-dennis-basso-carolina-herrera-jacket-colored-dyed1. Leopard Prints

Although leopard prints may invoke views of a somewhat, out-of-date trend, numerous designers – including DvF and DKNY – were able to put their own modern signature on these animal prints. In fact, animal print is anticipated to be one of the leading trends to emerge for fall.

2. Fur

PETA watch out! Fur made a particularly strong presence on the fashion runways in all forms, even accessories, such as handbags designed by Herve Leger. Despite the use many neutral tones, such as chocolate and black, what was more interesting was the use of colors. Dennis Basso, for instance, dyed his furs luminous shades such as chartreuse and evergreen. This method of dying, too, was seen in the fashion collection of Carolina Herrera, who opted for jewel-toned fur scarves.

3. Knee-high boots

For the past few years, a majority of women have been departing from tall boots in favor of booties, however, that fashion trend is scheduled to reverse come Fall. Scores of designers, such as Alice & Olivia and 3.1 Phillip Lim, brought new life to the knee-high trend, coupling them often with skirts and fitted dresses.

4. Skirts and dresses over pants

Prompted by the ready-to-wear spring collection of Dior, straight pants under skirts and dresses appear to be on the fashion Fall horizon. Although this trend may sound strange to some, designers such as Altyzarra, BCBGMAXAZRIA, and Jason Wu presented the trend in ways that were attractive and wearable.

5. Military-Chic

Many models could also be seen marching down the fashion runway in must-have military-inspired collections. These collections, such as Prabal Gurung’s, included hardware-covered boots, as well as strong utilitarian separates that featured army-green epaulets and cargo pockets.

Black & White Fashion For Spring 2013

After being strutted down numerous runways (from Alexander Wang to Louis Vuitton), head-to-toe black and white is projected to be a BIG fashion trend for Spring 2013.

FINE-magazine-New-York-Fashion-Week-Spring-2013-black-white-alexander-wang-color-blocking-trend
Although Spring style is typically associated with bright and colorful prints, don’t be put off by this monochromatic look; it is anything but boring. With fashion trends like this, inspired by ‘60s icons like Twiggy, one can look sophisticated and chic.

The most effortless approach to wearing this fashion trend is to keep it simple. Find black and white basics you already own and try coupling them together. For instance, you could match black skinny jeans with a white tee, or try accessorizing a white dress with black heals and a clutch to construct a simple, posh outfit, while keeping on trend this season.

Another way to wear this black-and-white look is to play with texture. For example, try mixing leather with lace to add visual interest to your outfit. Or, try playing with volume and proportions by wearing a wide leg trouser with a more fitted shirt.

You could also try color blocking black and white, giving you a contemporary, fashion-forward look, or, if you’re feeling more adventurous, go graphic by wearing a printed black and white piece.

As with every fashion trend how you wear it is ultimately up to you and how you interpret and adapt this fashion trend into your own personal style.

Jayden Presleigh: Hair Trends for Spring 2013

fine-magazine-jayden-presleigh-carlsbad-salon-boutique

Jayden Presleigh Salon and Spa is the go to solon for spring 2013 hair trends. Located in the Carlsbad Village, Jayden Presleigh is a full service salon and spa that offers a wide variety of services like color, cut, Epicuren facials and massages. Latest trends at Jayden Presleigh are highlights and ombre styles. Highlights have always been popular, but the new hair color trends for 2013 center specifically around warm highlights. That means choosing colors that fall into the warm family, like golden or caramel blond, bright or deep dark red, or even chocolate browns. The trends include choosing more dramatic highlights that are several shades different from the natural hair color. If you want something truly unique, then consider this option for hair color trends in 2013, choose several different shades of highlights to be used in various spots over the whole head. This will create a great deal of depth and definition.

The ombre hair is popular in recent years. Similar to the dip dyed style, these hair color trends of
2013 include lightening just the ends of the hair. For darker hair, this can include lighter shades of brown from the chine down on long styles. For blond hair, the look can be achieved by going a shade or two lighter. Keep in mind that no matter your hair color, you will only want to go a shade lighter than your natural color. Two shades lighter at the most. If you go more dramatic, then you will end up looking too two toned. Hair color trends for 2013 are bold, unique and fun. Jayden Presleigh also has a boutique and offers a space for social gatherings for girls’ night out or bridal parties.

Wolford Tights At Maggie B's Boutique

The Austrian hosiery company saving legs from runs.

Maggie B-Clothing-Encinitas-Wolford-tights-Rancho-Santa-Fe-Plaza-Austrian-hosiery-fashonistas-

It's warming up around San Diego, but with a few cold fronts still on the horizon, SoCal fashionistas have a few weeks left to rock one of winters best accessories. From barely-there to jet black, tights are the perfect way to keep that mini-skirt or summer dress functional throughout the year.

But not all tights are created equally. Your local drug store may offer a quick and cheap pair of pantyhose for under ten bucks. But step into them with a bad pedicure and you'll be lucky if they last the night. Department stores offer a more expensive alternative, with control tops and snag-free guarantees, but even they fall flat after a few wears.

FINE magazine recently scored a pair of Wolford tights from Maggie B's in the Rancho Santa Fe Plaza, and we loved them so much we just had to share.

With over 50-years of experience in fashion and hosiery, Wolford brings the very best in design and durability. the tights feature, a shapely, shiny opaque control top panty, a reinforced flat toe seam and a comfortable cotton waistband. These amazing tights last and last and they feel incredible.

Also available at Maggie B's, are Wolford gloves, which are exclusively for putting on the tights. One chipped fingernail can ruin even the finest tights.

So, check out this amazing product and see for yourself what a difference the Wolford brand from Maggie B's boutique can make before the tights get stored away for fall.
