Crazes in fashion result from the three Rs: runway, red carpet, and real life. This spring, from chest-plate pendants to knuckle-duster rings, bulky metal pieces are what’s hot, and nothing can take a look from drab to fab like a piece of statement jewelry. Seen in Spring 2013 fashion collections – such as Givenchy (pictured), Oscar de la Renta, Dolce & Gabbana, and Balenciaga (pictured) – oversized chunky jewelry are in style, and is not going anywhere. These metal only collar necklaces (including chokers), rings, and cuff bracelets, are fun in metallic colors such as gold and silver, as well as brass and copper.
With a very fresh modern look, one can find resemblances to large tribal jewelry in these collections. The angular structure, cuts, and sharp edges are both simple yet bold. Because metallic metals can be fairly eye-catching, however, stick to polished and minimal designs. Several rings worn together on one hand, or wearing multiple bangle bracelets, are both a way to achieve this. These statement pieces are great for going out, or adding glamour to any everyday look, and worth giving a try.
