Crop-Top Fashion Alert

From the red carpet, to the street, midriffs are having a skin-is-in movement. And, although not everyone is going to be a fan of the crop-top trend, they are, nevertheless, showing up everywhere, as last year’s craze for them is back for another round.

This style, however, has been given a more mature and sophisticated style makeover; a makeover headed by designers such as Peter Som, who paired vintage bralets with long girly skirts for a fashion that was more pretty than sexy. Michael Kors, too, embraced this trend, creating a long sleeve crop top that appeared fashion-forward and sporty, revealing only a snippet of the stomach. Additionally, at Balenciaga crop tops were designed with flattering boxy and relaxed cuts.

Even though the crop top is often a fashion trend that is avoided by many, this season’s styles make it easier to take on this risky style trend. Let the celebs be your muses if you still need some encouragement for this trend, however:

Take an edgy approach:
Toughen this look up by taking inspiration from Miley Cyrus’ outfit! She created an unfussy, cool-cool girl look by wearing her tight black crop top with a studded leather jacket and baggy shorts.

Layer up:
Unsure about flaunting so much skin? Layer on a blazer as Rosie Huntington-Whiteley so fabulously did.

Cover your belly button:
Take a more ladylike approach as Kendall Jenner did by pairing your crop top with high-waist jeans, exposing show only a bit of your midriff.
